Chakra Activation Workshop Series – Day 11 – Solar Plexus Chakra, Manipura
If you missed the other Chakras and wish to catch up, you can do so by scrolling through prior posts.
So let’s move on to the chakra in question.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Even if you didn’t know about chakras before, you might well have heard of the solar plexus, which is a complex of ganglia and radiating nerves of the sympathetic system at the pit of the stomach. This is also the same relative area for the solar plexus chakra which resonates from the subtle body and throughout.
I will go over the basics here:
Location: Just below the sternum, extending down to the navel (stem in corresponding position at the back)
Key Words: Logic, reason, pinion, assimilation, psychic intuition
Developmental Age: 8-12 years
Colours: Yellow, Gold Rose
Glandular Connections: Adrenals
Quietening Fragrances: Vetivert, Rose
Stimulating Fragrances: Bergamot, ylang-ylang
Crystals and Gemstones: Yellow citrine, apatite, calcite, kunzite, rose quartz, iron pyrites (fool’s gold), topaz, malachite.
In order to understand the keywords for the solar plexus it is necessary to understand how complex this area is. It is the centre of the lower ego or will as well as being connected with the digestive system, the fire element, vision, sight and psychic energies.
Logic, Reason and Opinion of the Solar Plexus Chakra
Intellect and mind have an important relationship with the solar plexus. Part of our ego or personality formation is related to having a logical and reasonable approach to life and to being able to form and state personal opinions. This involves independent rationality which allows us to reach our personal and full potential.
We referred to empowerment with the sacral chakra, this process continues in the solar plexus. In the search for individuality, it is necessary to challenge some of the expectations of society and to do this we need the qualities of logic, reason and opinion.
Assimilation not only relates to the digestion and the physical assimilation of food, but also in a much wider sense including the mental and psychological assimilation of knowledge and experience.
In esoteric realms the word ‘psychic’ is used to denote a particular kind of sensitivity in which an individual may have premonitions, either in dreams or through ‘hunches’ and , ‘knowings’. Crystal ball gazers use the psychic faculty. Taro card readers, palm readers, astrologers etc are energized from a specifically psychic level. The psychic faculty itself is a valuable ingredient in intuition and spiritual practice. If it gets ‘stukc’, though, at the solar plexus level and isolated there, it becomes limited. Psychic guidance will tend to relate only to the material world, the future, our love, lives, luck and all the areas generally associated with ‘fortune telling’. Only when integrated with the qualities of the heart and brow chakras does it become truly spiritual.
The psychic world can be frightening but psychic energy is a necessary ingredient in the vision and power which enables us to see, define, implement and change our spiritual direction, where necessary.
Contacting and Sensing Your Solar Plexus Chakra
Check the location of your solar plexus chakra. Then using the sensing exercise mentioned with the root chakra substitute ‘solar plexus’ where appropriate, follow this with the ‘Images and Symbols’ mentioned previously also.
How did you get on with your activity?
Tomorrow we move on to the Developmental Age of this chakra.
Until then, wishing you a beautiful day, Justine xxx
